Lunch and Dinner Food Stock Photos

I’m one of those types of people that will very occasionally try new things to eat for lunch or dinner, while at the same time I could eat things that I like, over and over and over again. For instance, give me a pepperoni-pineapple pizza every other night and I’m good to go. This is not to say I would turn down a Fillet Mignon in place of the pizza, far from it, but only that my tastes are not that demanding of culinary artisans. However, if I wormhole my way from actual food to its photographed counterpart in the second dimension, my opinion becomes much more acute. (Who knows why I worked a bit of sci-fi into a post about food? Oh well moving on…)
The marketing phrase “Sell the sizzle, not the steak” is turned on its head when having to actually sell a restaurant’s four-star steak dinner. When both the sound and smell of the sizzle are gone, you’re left to rely on the viewer’s eyes to take in the image of food, and remind the appetite of what that main course actually smells and tastes like. But if all you have is a quick photo you took with your cell phone, convincing the viewer that they’re stomachs should be growling is made quite difficult. Saturation, contrast, as well as color, need to be keenly precise in order to make the mouth all but drool. I selected the following photos with this goal in mind.
In general I could see these photos being used for restaurant menus and websites, or magazine montages for tourist dinning experiences. For example, a Las Vegas dinning ad with the headline “In Vegas, Not Everything is a Gamble”, implying the obvious quality of the food that is pictured by quality stock photos. Hope you find this set of stock helpful and please share any of your work where you used one or more of these food stock photos, with the Stockoon community.
